Can you substitute sour cream with mayo in a salmon patty recipe?

No - sour cream is a dairy product, and therefore creamy %26amp; smooth. Mayo is made with eggs %26amp; oil %26amp; vinegar, so it's greasy in texture and much different in flavour. Can you substitute sour cream with mayo in a salmon patty recipe?
No, because it is an emulsifier, it helps hold the patty together. But you can substitute with an egg, because it fills the same role, and then you can add a bit of sour cream. I suggest adding dill, because sour cream, dill and salmon go so well together. Can you substitute sour cream with mayo in a salmon patty recipe?
