Does anyone have any good recipes for smoked salmon?

Do you mean recipes for how to smoke it, or what to do with it?

If you want to make it, you need to take a fillet of fresh salmon, salt it for a short time, then cold smoke it in a commercial temperature regulated smoker.

Hot smoked salmon is easier, as you can take a thick fillet of fresh salmon, salt it briefly, and smoke it in a little home smoker.

I guess you may be more interested in recipes for what to do with it.

I use it a lot, it goes really well with scrambled eggs on toast or a bagel.

I also like it with coleslaw and salad, or potato salad, particularly if it is perked up with horseradish and mayonnaise.

If you buy a side of cold smoked salmon, you can cut it thicker than the ready sliced sort, and sear it very quickly in a very hot lightly greased pan, and then serve it with cooked vegetables, or a warm salad.

Hot smoked salmon can be gently reheated in the oven or under the grill and served with pretty much anything you would serve with grilled fish.

Both hot smoked, and cold smoked salmon when added to peeled prawns, other poached white fish and sliced hard boiled eggs, in a bechamel sauce, then topped with creamy mashed potato, dotted with butter and browned in the oven makes a really luxurious fish pie.

There is always smoked salmon sandwiches - made with wholegrain granary bread spread with cream cheese (mixed with a little garlic if liked) rather than butter and slices of cold smoked salmon. Delicious.

You can make a quick sauce for Pasta, by chopping your smoked salmon into small pieces, mixing it with a little lemon juice, cream, a touch of horseradish and parsley then tossing this sauce into your freshly cooked pasta

Sure there are lots more which I can't think of just now.Does anyone have any good recipes for smoked salmon?
Thanks for appreciating the recipes - I forgot to mention that smoked salmon goes especially well with Dill - either fresh or dried leaves. Dill pickled cucumbers are a good accompaniment.

Hope you enjoy it, it is very good value at the moment. Report Abuse

Thinly sliced, with a lemon wedge, some cracked black pepper, and some lovely fresh wholemeal bread sliced thick, which is then spread with lots of salty butter. With good-quality ingredients, less is often more!
nestle some prawns on a bed of lettuce, then add thin strips of smoked salmon. garnish with thousand island dressing or mayonnaise
Add it to scrambled eggs and serve on buttered toast - yum!
