Salmon recipes that kids love?? My kids complain that salmon is too fishy. Any suggestions?

yes Solomon has a fishy taste so try to season it with Worcestershire sauce ,or put lemon juice,or marinated with hosen sauce and orange juice .Just try different marinades .Does help and they might even look forward to eating it.Salmon recipes that kids love?? i have various recipes but perhaps you need to soak your fish in milk while it's defrosting. i get a casserole dish, fill half way with milk and put the frozen fish (i like catfish and talipia) in the milk. it will not change the taste but will definitly take that fishy smell away. try it! good luck!Salmon recipes that kids love?? If you use canned salmon, or even fresh salmon that has been cooked, you could make a salmon loaf. I remember that my Mom made this when I was a child (over 60 years ago). Take the salmon, removed any bones, mash it up, add crushed saltine crackers, two eggs beaten, salt and pepper to taste. Bake in a loaf pan at 350 for 30 to 45 minutes. It alters the real fishy taste and is really delicious. Hope this helps.

I pull out tin foil a large piece, put lettuce leafs down, lay salmon on lettuce, place dill and lemon slices, some pepper, on top of salmon, seal the tin foil, like a packet and bake at 350 for about 15-20 minute depending on thickness. pull out of oven and let rest for five minutes then open. the lettuce steams the fish, its health because there is no need for oil or butter and it basically tastes like what ever you put in with the fish, I use this wih all fish works great on the grill too.
If you salmon smells a bit fishy when you bring it home, soak it in some milk for about 30 minutes.....adding a little dill or hollandaise sauce to the top helps too....
Make it fun and give it a sauce or dip that will entice them. I use a salsa made with chopped pineapple and mango's with a little fine chopped onion if they don't detect it and some chopped cilantro to add diverse flavor with color,Mix together with olive oil and some lemon. Salt pepper if desired and you have a pineapple mango salsa sure to please the kids and adults alike.

If its fresh and I mean really fresh, it shouldn't taste fishy. That could be part of the problem. I would also try maybe fish tacos, or maybe something in pasta with a nice lemony cream sauce.
Make 'salmon' fish fingers.....or burgers they're good too!

This may sound weird but when my sister and I were kids we used to just dip the salmon in a sauce made from 1 part ketchup to one part mayonnaise mixed with a fork. The sauce should be just about the same color as the fish. This is fun because the kids can make their own and play around with the colors, and it hides any fishy taste.
This is a great salmon recipe. It really takes away that ';fishy'; flavor. My aunt makes this for her little girl who loves it and has no idea there is salmon in it! good luck.








Salmon Cakes


1 (7 3/4 ounce) can salmon


2 teaspoons grated onions


1 egg, lightly beaten


1/4 teaspoon salt


1/8 teaspoon pepper


1/8 dill (optional)


8 soda crackers, crushed


flour


oil (for frying)


Mash salmon, bones and all, in a bowl with a fork.


Add onion, egg, salt, pepper and dill (if used).


Blend well.


Crush soda crackers and add to the salmon, mixing well.


Add just enough crumbs to make a mixture that will hold its shape.


Make patties and dip each in flour or more cracker crumbs to coat both sides.


Heat oil in a heavy skillet.


Add patties and fry slowly until golden on both sides.


Drain excess oil on paper towel and serve.
If you soak the salmon for 15 minutes in milk then drain it a pat it dry all of the fishy ytaste disappears. I saw this on the food channel and did not think it would work, but it does the trick every time.
salmon and peas,cook them together in a white sauce like for chowder and serve it over toast or just bread it's great and the strong fishy taste is gone. If you want to do it another way soak in salt water overnight
try making salmon burgers! serve them with ketchup and fries and they'll never know its fish!
My kids still Love these served with ketchup and fries! Easy and different.





Salmon Croquettes or Patties





2 large potatoes


1 (12.5 oz) can skinless, boneless salmon


陆 cup finely chopped green onions


2 teaspoons fresh chopped parsley


2 eggs, beaten


salt, pepper and red pepper to taste


cracker meal for breading





Peel, dice and boil potatoes until soft enough to mash. Combine with salmon, onion, parsley, egg and seasonings in a large bowl. Beat on low speed of electric mixer until well blended. Shape into patties, croquettes or balls. Roll in cracker meal and fry in 1 to 2 inches of oil in heavy skillet until golden. Drain on paper. Serves 4 to 6.
If you put brown sugar, black pepper, and melted butter, you can also put whatever other spices you want, it will taste sweet, not at all like fish, I don't like fish either, but this recipe is great! The brown sugar sound gross on fish, but its actually pretty good.
Tell them to eat it or they can go to bed hungry.
Grilled salmon is always good. Remove the skin and the dark flesh under the skin before serving it. It won't taste nearly as fishy.
